Shop Updates!!

I feel like I am actually making some progress on some of my WIP’s!  It’s always such a relief to feel like you aren’t just spinning your wheels.  And I tend to be one of those people that take on so many projects that it will take the rest of my life, if I did nothing else, just to catch up!

I haven’t mentioned this in any of my posts, but these are some of the strips that I have left from the baby Coin Quilt that I made for my niece this last spring.  I actually have a pretty nice stack of them, partially sewn together.  I got a little carried away when I was doing the quilt I guess!  Anyhow, I have had this pillow in mind.  I think that I will make a couple more, in different sizes.  This one is a 12″ square.  I added some eyelet lace around the outside edge.

I really like it.  So I put this up in my Etsy shop.

And I finished this…..

The coffee bucket and hot pads made with the batik fabric, that I mentioned last week. The coffee label is burlap from a coffee bean sack, that I stenciled with brown acrylic paint, then sewed on the outside. The potholders are lined inside with warm and natural batting.

I used a waving quilt stitch on the hot pads (potholders), and I sewed across each one in opposite directions.

So, I also added these to my Etsy shop.  I’m trying to up my inventory so that I have a better selection of items to choose from.

I’ve also been working on my 9-patch blocks for the quilt along (which is really just a catch up for me, hehe!).  I’ll show pictures of those later this week.

I have my blogiversary coming up in a couple of weeks.  Stay tuned, I will have some surprises for you!  I’m getting so excited just thinking about (and planning!) it!

I hope that you are all enjoying the remainder of the summer, take care!  And thanks for stopping  by to say hi, I greatly appreciate it!

Family

This week has been geared toward family.  Both at home, and at work.

Wednesday was my daughter’s birthday.  She just turned 26 (how can she be so old, when I’m so young? sigh!)

She requested a white cake, raspberry filling, and cream cheese frosting,

Nothing fancy.  You’re never too old to have mom bake your birthday cake!  And she loved it!

Then there was the baby shower at work.  I made Lindsey this little basket,

And I filled it with little girl baby clothes, which I didn’t take a picture of.

It was a potluck so I made a taco bean dip, (you can kind of see it in the middle of the picture).  Lots of food!

And she received lots of gifts.  This is as far as I got at the shower.   I had to run off for a conference call.  But I did let Lindsey know that she has one more gift coming from me! ( shhhhhhh!  The baby quilt, I didn’t tell her what it was.)  I will have it done by time the baby arrives!

Tomorrow morning I will be flying out to Tulsa to see my in-laws.  My husband is already there.  It should be a relaxing weekend.  I’m going right now to get some fabric and supplies together.  Maybe I can get a start on some more projects or some hand sewing done!

I hope that you enjoy your weekend!  Thanks for coming by!

Disappointments and New Beginnings

Well, I have to say that I am disappointed.

The pinwheel baby quilt that I have been working on for the baby shower at work just isn’t working out.  I have been having too many problems quilting it.  I guess that there are too many ‘firsts’ on this one for me.  (I started the list here, but thank goodness for you there is a delete button!)

Just being who I am, I can’t give someone a gift that I am not happy with.  I believe that the future is going to include removing stitches, and a lot of re-sewing! And the quilt will remain in the family (hehe!)

So life goes on!

Peter Rabbit!

Peter Rabbit!

I have this Peter Rabbit fabric that I have been waiting for the right moment to use, and some red gingham, and red ric rac and white eyelet.  I think that this has baby written all over it!  I have already started……
