Handmade Shop Introduction – Junie’s Trinkets by Junie Duncan

I would like you to meet Junie Duncan. She is the owner and designer of Junie’s Trinkets. Today Junie is going to tell us a little about her shop, what inspires her to create, and some about her creative process.

Hi Junie, can you please tell us what you make and sell, how long have you been doing this, and what made you decide to open a shop?

I am a widowed mother of 2 boys- also disabled. In March, I decided to make jewelry to pass the time, possibly as gifts for family & friends. I shared a couple photos, & had a friend order from me! After talking to some other long time friends & shop owners I decided to try it out. Now, I do this full time. My page has grown to over 1150 fans in less than 4 months… I think of that as a sign I am doing what I SHOULD be. I keep my prices low, I know what it is like to see something I want, but it be out of my reach financially. I firmly believe EVERYONE has the right to have something special made, just for them. If I can do that for them, that makes me happy.

I am very pleased to say my work is now in 4 countries, & I also won a wire wrapping contest recently @ http://www.facebook.com/SuperiorAgates It was my 4th wire wrapped cabochon, so I was extremely surprised & thrilled to win! :)

Tell us a little more about you. What other interests do you have?

I love FB, lol I spend most of my time there. I also enjoy reading, movies, spending time with my kids. I also teach Sunday school.

Handmade Shop Introduction – Unique Crafts by Patti

I would like you to meet Patti, shop owner/designer of Unique Crafts by Patti.

Hi Patti, please tell us what you make and sell, how long have you been doing this, and what made you decide to open a shop?

I make a little bit of everything! I make jewelry, cross stitch, bath salts, chainmaille. I’m teaching myself to crochet…and to learn the sewing machine again! When I feel comfy sewing again, Im wanting to make bags, pillows, curtains, etc!

Wow, I started selling my pieces in 06! (Been making my jewelry since then, and let me tell ya, its come A LOOOOOONG way, hehe) But Ive been crafty as far back as I can remember, Thanks to my Mom! Making my stuff will always be a joy to me, I love being creative, but this is my “JOB” and what I make goes to helping my hubs with bills or buying diapers…and maybe a chocolate bar or 2, *looks innocent*

Tell us a little about your background. What other interests do you have?

I’m an Air Force brat born and raised! I traveled the world and lived in Italy for 2 years and Germany for 3 years. I of course did a lot of traveling around Europe. A couple of my favorite places were Austria, where the Sound of Music was filmed! We got to see the house and me and my sister danced around the gazebo singing “I am 16 going on 17…” :D It was gorgeous there! But my all time favorite place I visited was Paris! Im a history nut and there was SOOOOOO much History there! I got to see the Mona Lisa, The Notre Dame, and of course my Eiffel Tower! *sigh* I just loved that place!

Im a HUGE Basketball fan, GOOOO UTAH JAZZ!!! I used to play in high school, and thats where my nickname of Amazon came from, *giggles* Im 6’0 tall, and when I would go up for a lay-up shot my fingers touched the rim! And of course I did this with the football team sitting in the gym one time and they saw that…and thats when it started! :P

I Won!!

This post is being written far too late! My time away has taken longer than I had anticipated, and I have missed being here and talking to everyone more than I can ever say. I am still not back full time, but I will be posting and visiting all of your wonderful blogs as much as I can.

Meanwhile, I won a wonderful handmade gift of three knit dish cloths from Meg Crane, owner of Three Silver Cranes Etsy shop!

Meg had a giveaway on her Facebook page, and I was the lucky winner! These cloths are soooooo soft!

Here is a close-up of the stitching. I absolutely love her cloths!

Meg has several dish cloths in her Etsy shop, and also makes hemp jewelry, wool caps, hanging dish cloths, cloths from organic yarn, and many, many other cute items!
