A Little Swap I Did…

I have done a little, and I mean just a little, stitching on a couple of fun projects since I was here last. I signed up for the Candle Mat swap that took place in November over at the Quilting Gallery. I received my candle mat from Virginia Hendricks….

It is made of some wonderful fall colored batiks and hand quilted.  She used some leaf patterns for the quilted areas.

Virginia also included a fat quarter of fabric in my favorite blue color and some postcards of Pittsburgh.  What a wonderful idea to include postcards of the area you live in!

I made my candle mat for Nora Burian in Indiana.

I used a charm pack of Maison de Garance by French General for Moda.  I love the fabric so much, I have one that I am finishing for myself!

I sewed some vintage buttons on the outside of each of the corners.

If you are interested in making one for yourself, or someone else, here is the link for the downloadable pattern. This was a fun and easy project to complete.  It makes a wonderful mini quilt or table topper.  The pattern is from Sandi Andersen.  Stop by and visit her blog, A Legacy of Stitches as well!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas in the Mail!

I received my swap goodies from the ornament swap that I participated in during July!  What a wonderful package of goodies!

A box full of wrapped up goodies!

There is a wonderful Christmas ornament, you can see it in the lower front of the picture right above,

Here is a look unwrapped…..

It is absolutely beautiful!  I appreciate all of the work that went into piecing this…

I can’t wait to see it on my tree!  I know that I will cherish this for many years to come.

And if the ornament wasn’t enough on its own, look at these other wonderful goodies…  there are some vintage buttons (one of my favorite things!!), a sweet cat bookmark (and I love cats and books, both), and some Pear and Blackberry drops, my mouth waters just looking at the tin, some fruit flavored tea (which I think will be wonderful iced, I will be trying that this weekend), an assortment of cards to create and decorate which include book marks and bag tags, and some wonderful rooster fabric~

Look at these panels, there are ten of them.  They are so colorful, a quilted wall hanging for my new home in Washington comes to mind immediately!

Thank you so much Janet for the wonderful package!

PS:  I believe that the vintage buttons may end up on the wall quilt with the roosters!

It’s Beginning to Feel A Lot Like………Christmas???

There are a lot of those ‘Christmas in July’ sales going on right now.  It’s a great way to support those that sell handmade, and get an early start on all those gifts!  But that isn’t what I am actually referring to here.

I have joined in on Terri’s July Ornament Swap…

I dug deep into my stash, looking for those Christmas fabrics, and this is what I came up with…

I found several of my vintage floral Christmas fabrics, some ribbons, some vintage bells, and made a couple of heart ornaments for my swap partner.

I had a red floral with small flowers on it, some green floral that has some larger pink & red flowers, and some that has a cream colored background.  Then for the back I had this green background with small poinsettias and other flowers..

This style of jingle bells are my favorite…

I am also adding a magnetic tablet to the package, so my swap partner can get her Christmas shopping list together!

The only thing missing is the chocolate!  But I dare not, it would not make it too far with the 108º weather we have been having here.

And yes, I did hum ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” as my little sewing machine hummed along, happy as can be!

This was so much fun!!  A huge thank you to Terri, over at Terri’s Notebook for all the time and effort she put into putting this fun swap together!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

Take care,

Cheryl
