Book Review: Seams to Me – 24 New Reasons to Love Sewing

It’s here!  It’s here!  I pre-ordered Anna Maria Horner’s new book, “Seams to Me:  24 New Reasons to Love Sewing”, directly from her web site.  It arrived a couple of days ago, and I haven’t been able to put it down!  And, it has her signature on the title page!  A bonus to us!

She is such a talent.  The book is laid out very well, with something for everyone.  Whether you are new to sewing or an old pro, I am sure that you will find inspiration here.

The book is spiral bound, so it is easy to open it up and keep your page available to look at if you need to.  The book is divided into two parts.  The first is dedicated to arranging your workspace, and discusses tools, fabric, notions, trims, several sewing tips (I picked up a couple that I haven’t heard of before) and how do so some hand sewing.  All tips and instruction can be used in the projects she has in the book, so you have a way to practice what you read.

The second section has the projects.  They are arranged by type of product.  For example, ‘Organize’ has projects that you can make that will help you organize your home!  Other areas are ‘Stylize’, ‘Decorate’ and ‘Domesticate.’

Lots of colorful photos, step-by-step directions and diagrams to help with the projects.  And a bonus, the patterns are included in an envelope attached to the inside of the back of the book.  They are already printed on single sided paper, so you can either use them as they are, or trace onto other paper.

I am thoroughly enjoying my book, and highly recommend it to anyone.  It would make a great Christmas gift for a fellow sewer!
