Mini Quilt Swap Update

I participated in the New Beginnings Mini Quilt Swap that was held over at The Quilting Gallery this spring.  I haven’t done a swap in a couple of years, and I really enjoy them.  Now that my partner has received her mini quilt, and I have received mine, I thought that I’d share with you.

My Goodie Package!

Here are the wonderful things I received from my partner, Doreen, in South Australia!  Not only did I receive a wonderful mini quilt, but Doreen made a sweet scissor holder, which can hold full size and smaller scissors, and sweet little needle holder with a spool of thread, a couple, yes two, pair of the cutest scissors, and a booklet of postcards showing some wonderful areas where she lives in South Australia.

Here are more pictures of the goodies….

Check out the pair of lady scissors - this is the frontCheck out these scissors…they are so cute!  Here is the front of the lady pair, and look at the back (excuse the glare, I needed the extra light it’s pretty gray outside today)…

I’ll have a lot of fun sewing with these!

I love the flower button detail on the side of this sweet needle case!

Check out the little scissor charm that she added to the front of the scissor holder, what a great idea!

I put the quilt on my design board, so you can get a better look. Sweet butterflys and little yellow flowers for spring!

Doreen also stitched this sweet label, and note the little butterfly charm on the top right corner!  Thanks so much Doreen, I really appreciate all of the work you did to make this such a special swap!

My partner (Teresa)  that I sewed for is located in Portugal. Do you remember this picture that I mentioned in my last post?

It was for my mini quilt swap quilt.

I used fabric called Natural Garden by Holly Taylor for Moda.  I wanted to do something a little different, that represented nature and spring.  The colors reminded me of the first crocus you see in the spring, and the red tulips that follow.  I made some shabby fabric flowers from some of the fabric, that are pinned on, so the quilt can be washed.

Closer look at the shabby flowers I also added a couple of post cards of Washington, and a treat of chocolate candy eggs (yum!) in her package, but didn’t get pictures of those.  I hope that my partner enjoys her quilt.  Stop over and visit Teresa’s blog, Quilting Stitching and Sew On.  She does some wonderful quilts that I know you will love to see!

Thanks for coming by!

  1. I love the mini quilt you received AND the one you made to give! So fun to see the differences and similarities. How generous of Doreen to send all those additional goodies. Love having a needle case and such beautiful scissors. I haven’t done a swap in ages, so it’s really fun to see yours! Enjoy your new goodies.
